Spring Madness is Here!

As we step into vibrant March, energy and excitement greet us. A renaissance of life fills the air, bringing with it the promise of colorful fauna and flora and a new generation of various critters, including the cute and cuddly ones and the not-so-much. As nature awakens from its winter slumber, the world around us bursts forth with rebirth and renewal. Or, in my instance, BIRTH! The birth of my first novel, Conjoined! Edit: How are my Northeast U.S. people feeling after the madness of another spring snowfall?!

Out with the Old

While March’s vernal equinox and the full moon symbolize balance and illumination, they cast a mystical glow upon our surroundings and inspire a sense of wonder and introspection. It’s a time to shed the old and embrace the new, to release what no longer serves us, and to welcome the promise of fresh opportunities on the horizon. I am especially looking forward to those! I’m envisioning you reading my words, following the dark and twisty story of Andrea and Allyson. I imagine you traveling along the labyrinth’s path, encountering the recesses of the human psyche, exploring themes of identity, obsession, and the thin line between reality and illusion. And I can’t wait to hear your reactions!

Birth and Anticipation

Unquestionably, the anticipation is palpable. It is nearly as exciting and daunting as the birth of a child. Although I didn’t make the paper or ink that the text is set in, the words are all mine, as is the story. All 375 pages. It took time and energy to create it from its conception to its conclusion. Writing a book has a similar feel to the gestation period of a human, albeit a much longer one. Then there is the reality that a book and our words can outlive us all! If only it’s not lost in the thousands of stories released into the wild each month. It’s sheer madness!

Lessons in Basketball

Speaking of madness —Every March, 68 NCAA Division I basketball teams across the U.S. compete for the national championship. These teams compete in a single-elimination format, with games held at different venues across the nation. It’s utter chaos as teams who were expected to win get upset by their less-favored rivals.

Undeniably, the intense competition captivates fans with a good underdog story and the thrill of competition. The literary world is surprisingly similar. Each month, hundreds of authors in specific genres compete to get their books into the hands of their ideal readers. If a writer is lucky enough to already have a fanbase, the anticipation of the new arrival can be captivating (and frustrating if there are delays.) There is the inevitable disappointment when the story doesn’t meet expectations or the excitement when one exceeds it. For a reader, it’s a high when you discover a new author to follow. And a huge boon, as an author, if your debut novel becomes the next big success story.

In both basketball and literature, this madness provides a platform for athletes and authors to showcase their skills and for fans to experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It’s a cultural phenomenon that brings people together, uniting communities and sparking conversations across the country. Sometimes, even the world. That’s something I can’t wait to be a part of!

Embrace the Madness

As March comes to a close and we eagerly anticipate the release of Conjoined, let us embrace the madness and the transformative power of the full moon. Let us revel in the beauty of springtime, with its promise of new beginnings and fresh possibilities. Join me in celebrating the arrival of spring and my book baby as we embark on a thrilling new adventure together. May this season of rebirth fill your heart with joy and your soul with inspiration as we welcome the dawn of a new chapter in our lives.

Stay tuned for more updates and exclusive sneak peeks as we countdown to the release day. Until then, may your days be filled with sunshine, your nights with moonlight, and your dreams with endless possibilities.

Warmest regards — KTG
