Hello, my love! Haha. See what I did there? Happy belated Valentine’s Day. I hope you had as fabulous a day as you are. I know it can be a tough holiday to embrace and I’ve written before about my true thoughts on such a milestone. If you want to revisit that, you can find that post here. However, I’ve resolved to remain upbeat this month because so many exciting things are happening behind the scenes here at ktgeorge.com!

Loving Where You Are

As you probably know, I’m in the publishing process of my debut novel, Conjoined. You can read the hook here. I’ve blown through the line edits with glowing feedback from my anonymous editor (see snippet below.) It remains anonymous so that the editor can make candid and tough calls on your work, and as the author, there are no hard feelings between you and the person critiquing your work. Now, it’s on to the design phase. Design includes the cover, spine, back, and interior stuff like font, how you want your headings to appear, your chapter titles, and so much more. I’m truly loving where I am right now. What I don’t love is the coming steps…

Marketing

I had a plan early on as far as how I wanted my book launch to go. So many talking heads on the Internet love telling you the hard and fast rules of what it takes to get people to buy your product, especially a book. Turns out much of it is garbage. Go figure. My initial plan was to ask ten of you to become part of a launch team where you get the book, then run as fast as you can to GoodReads or Amazon or wherever you purchase books, and leave a five-star review. However, companies like Amazon have gotten persnickety about reviews in an effort to crack down on fakes and paid feedback. They actually have an algorithm (software) that searches my social sites and compares user data with my followers, and if you are deemed to be in close ‘proximity’ to me as a producer, your review gets flagged and, more than likely, deleted! Hello! How is anyone supposed to sell anything if you cannot ping the people interested in your work? This makes no sense and is very frustrating.

So What’s A Writer To Do?

Honestly, I don’t know other than to ask you, dear readers, to give it your best shot. Once the book is out, go and leave that glowing review on your favorite site. Plaster it on your social media, tell the lady at the checkout counter; Spread the news by word of mouth. You know someone who has written this awesome, scary thriller that will leave you with chills and a smile on your face because you know someone who is in the 98th percentile of people who finish writing a book and get to the publishing phase. That means only 2% of people who set out to write a book get to where I’m at. Can you believe that? Of course, you can because you know (and LOVE!) me!

What’s Next

In a couple of weeks, I will have a preview of the book cover and, hopefully, a pre-order link I can share with you all. In the meantime, keep watching out for posts from me on social media (you can find me on Facebook, Insta, and X) and check back here regularly. I might post something without sending out a newsletter reminder. Also, share this post with people who you think would like to get to know me and my work!

Thank you, as always, for your love and support. ~ KTG

I love that you went for it, and your dream is nearly here! I will definitely be buying and leaving a review. And if that one gets deleted, I leave another and another, until they give in and let it stay.
